About Queensburgh

NPO no 008-398
PBO no 930000013

We are very proud to know that we were the first Cheshire Home to be opened in South Africa.

In 1965, Queensburgh Cheshire Home opened with 3 residents in a little cottage on the property. Our Home has been extended twice and can accommodate 30 residents. We would like to feel we are a “Home from Home”.

Since 1965 we have cared for physically disabled adults of all races, offering 24 hour care together with respite and outreach programmes to the neighbouring community.

On our property we have four shops – a second hand clothing shop, “White Elephant” shop, Nursery (Plants) and a second hand book shop from which we sell donated items to the public. On a regular basis we also do extensive fund raising events/drives to supplement our monthly shortfall. There is an Annual Fete, Beer Fest, quarterly “Bargain Days”, Dinner Dances and Potjiekos Competitions. Appeals are also made to corporate donors for funding for various projects and Home refurbishments etc.
